Brent Bement, CPA, CVA

Brent received his Master's & Bachelor's Degrees in Accounting from the University of Utah.  Shortly after he became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Valuation Analyst.  Before graduating, he was able to learn Spanish and spend 2 years volunteering for his church in Argentina.  While at the University of Utah he enjoyed playing on the Utah lacrosse team as well as learning alongside so many great people.  He is married to Candice, and they have 5 children.

In addition to accounting, he enjoys all outdoor activities.  Especially archery, mountain biking, golf, hiking, camping, hunting, and target shooting.  He also enjoys fitness activities including half marathons, relay races, and weight lifting.  He has also been able to work with youth from Valley Mental Health and Hopeful Beginnings on a weekly basis as a part of the Respite Program.  He coordinates with the parents and plans activities to provide relief to the kids and families.  This program also helps the kids build social and relationship skills.

He works with all types of clients here at the firm including tax, accounting, audit, and valuation clients.

Jared Christensen, CPA

Jared joined Bement & Company in 2005. Jared graduated from the University of Utah with a Masters of Accounting in May of 2005. He gives special thanks to University of Utah professors Ken Hanni, Gerald Searfoss and James Woolley. 

Jared and his family currently reside in the Salt Lake Valley. He enjoys working at Bement & Company with his great co-workers amid the wonderful atmosphere present there.

Christie Van Tassell

Christie joined Bement & Company in 1993.  Christie moved to Salt Lake City from Idaho in the Fall of 1992, after graduating as Valedictorian from High School, where she had served as High School Student Body Vice-President. She began attending LDS Business College and was awarded a Huntsman Scholarship and a Sophomore Scholarship. While at LDSBC, Christie actively participated as Student Body Activities Leader and was on the Dean’s List. In May of 1995, she completed her Administrative Associate Degree from LDSBC.

Christie currently resides in Murray with her husband, Brian.  They enjoy traveling, hiking, sports, and spoiling their furkids.  They are both very active in animal rescue and Christie formed her own rescue group, Fuzzy Pawz Rescue which supports Utah and Idaho.

Jackie Muto

Jackie has been an essential part of Bement & Company for nearly 20 years and could name nearly every one of our clients.  We are proud to have her with us and thankful for everything she does to keep the office running smoothly.

Charla Tapa

Charla has been employed at Bement & Company since 2002.  She is currently the office manager. Charla’s primary responsibilities include payroll, bank reconciliation, tax return compilation, human resource duties, etc.     

Charla enjoys reading, baking and spending time with her family. She and her husband Sami reside in Bountiful with their two children. 

Marchelle Lee

Marchelle began working at Bement & Company in 2011.  She graduated from the University of Utah in 2004 in Mass Communication and Public Relations and immediately started working full-time in television broadcasting.  She worked at KUTV 2News for several years producing morning news. In 2006 she moved to Phoenix and worked at a News Producer, Web Producer, feature show producer and feature reporter at KNXV-TV. She was there 6 years before her family moved back to Salt Lake.  Marchelle then worked at KTVX-TV where  she started a new variety/feature show called “The Daily Dish” and had a daily on-air segment during the 4pm news. 

In 2011, Marchelle joined Bement & Company to manage the public relations and marketing.  Marchelle currently lives in Holladay with her husband and son.  She loves spending time near water, whether it’s the ocean, lake or river.  She enjoys snow and water skiing and spending time with her family and friends.  She also loves to sing and dance and was part of the Utah Dance Team (formally Crimson Line) at the University of Utah. 

Brandon Bement

Brandon joined Bement & Company in 2009. Brandon received his degree in accounting from the University of Utah and works with our individual and business clients in accounting and tax preparation.

Brandon enjoys being outdoors, camping, practicing archery and spending time with his wife and kids.

Jamie Beutler

Jamie has been part of our team for over 6 years and we look forward to many more years with her.  She began as a receptionist and has also started assisting in individual tax preparation.

Ken Bement, CPA

May 23, 1956 to June 30, 2017

Ken Bement started Bement & Company in 1989 and continued working until his passing in June 2017.  We at Bement & Company are so grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside him.  He was such an amazing father, friend, and mentor to us and our clients.  He will be greatly missed.

Ken graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Utah in June 1978. Prior to his graduation, he joined the international accounting firm of Coopers and Lybrand (now known as Price Waterhouse Coopers). Ken worked in the Salt Lake City office of Coopers and Lybrand from 1978 until 1985. At this time, Ken’s career took him to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he was involved with a variety of the firms more prestigious clients.  In 1987, Ken joined the firm of Price Waterhouse and returned to his native Utah.


In 1989, Ken left Price Waterhouse to form Bement & Company, P.C.  

Ken is the proud parent of six children and resided in North Salt Lake, Utah with his wife. Outside of the office, Ken was active in church and community affairs, including the Sons of Utah Pioneers. His hobbies and interests were mostly focused on outdoor activities. He particularly enjoyed the mountains and spending time with his family.
